Looking for east London hotels for a week

I’m looking for London hotels for a trip to the capital I’m planning in a few weeks. I’ve got a couple of weeks off work, as I finish my current job at the end of January and don’t start my new one until right at the end of February. I’m going to spend a week down in London, seeing various friends. Most of my friends who’ve moved there have ended up around the East End, mostly in the Shoreditch, Hoxton, and Whitechapel areas, so I’m thinking of staying at that big hotel on Old Street, which is nearby those areas and also has the handy benefit of being only a few minutes’ walk from a tube station.
